WATCH: Chance The Rapper Stars in Short Film, “Mr. Happy”

Chicago’s own, Chancellor Bennett, aka Chance The Rapper, has starred in a brand new short film called Mr. Happy. The film was directed by Colin Tilley, a prominent hip-hop music video director, known best for his work with Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and many more.

The 22-minute long film features Chance as a character named Victor, who is tired the daily grind at his day job, working for a company called Supply Guyz. Victor’s girlfriend has left him, his drug loving co-workers are wearing on him, and overall, Victor just seems tired of it all.

The film takes on the very serious, yet important, topic of depression and suicide. As Victor contemplates suicide, he heads to a peculiar website MrHappy.com, and signs a suicide contract, effectively signing up to take an easy route to ending his life in two days, which happens to be Valentine’s Day.

I’ll resist spoiling anything, but the film is actually very good. Tilley gives an exclusive interview with Vice, who is also exclusively housing the film. Head over to their website, and get some insight into the film and its director.
