Lord Huron has shared a brand new song, “Fool For Love” off their upcoming album, Strange Trails, the follow-up to 2012’s stellar Lonesome Dreams.
The track is a welcome return for Lord Huron, and will surely make the group’s fans happy. Pleasantly plucked entry guitars make way for an upbeat tempo as lead singer Ben Schneider begins his excursion. Lord Huron is known for well-crafted songs telling tall stories of the journeys one takes for love and adventure, and “Fool For Love” keeps up the trend.
Schneider begins by laying the ground floor for his campaign: “Before I commence my ride, I’m asking Lily to be my bride / I know there’s another man, but he ain’t gonna delay my plan / I know she’s gonna be my wife, Gonna fall in love, gonna live my life”.
The lyrics become slightly more humbling, Schneider admits his shortcomings just as you’d expect from the title – our song’s hero is a fool for love, letting it blind him as he begins a fight for his lady. The song turns bittersweet when he admits, “I never should’ve called his bluff / I know I was born to lose, ’cause I’m a fool for love”
The song’s harmonies and buoyant vocals provide enough hope to fool any casual listener’s belief that the song isn’t uplifting at heart. “Fool For Love” drums up plenty of excitement for what’s to come when Strange Trails is released April 7.
Lord Huron will take their songs of adventure across the nation, when they embark on a North American tour beginning on April 16th. Tour dates are below, and you can get a free download of “Fool For Love” when you pre-order the new album here.
