Although Summerfest is technically the “World’s Largest Music Festival,” there’s no doubt that Lollapalooza is the big festival ticket to get in the Midwest every summer. I mean, you don’t really see rumored lineups for the Johnson Controls World Sounds Stage, and Three-Day Passes annually sell out before the festival’s lineup is even announced.
The rumors for Lollapalooza’s 2015 lineup have been swirling around for the past few weeks, and today, we get confirmation of a few artists (Metallica, Florence & The Machine)… and a little bit of let down to those who bought into the hype (no Kanye, no Drake, no Rihanna).
Despite not booking possibly two of the hugest hip hop stars in the world, the lineup is actually pretty solid top to bottom. As mentioned above, Metallica, and Florence & The Machine will headline, as well as Sir Paul McCartney.
The most important part of any festival is the second tier. This is where festivals can really excel at giving ticket holders more bang for their buck. And Lollapalooza’s 2015 lineup really knocks it out of the park here, including A$AP Rocky, Tame Impala, Hot Chip, Father John Misty, The Weeknd, Alabama Shakes, Flying Lotus, Sylvan Esso, Sam Smith, The Tallest Man on Earth, Death From Above 1979, Toro Y Moi, Chet Faker, TV On The Radio, FKA Twigs, Wild Belle, Twin Peaks, Young Thug, and plenty more.
