We’ve got a brand new track from up-and-coming group Turn To Crime, out of Detroit, MI.
Self-described as “post-nothing” as a backlash to all of the post-(anything) bands around today, the trio has a sound that resembles Beach Fossils with a heavy dose of distorted Velvet Underground and Lou Reed. There’s soul behind lead singer Derek Stanton’s voice, and their new track “Prince of Slackers” has a subtle catch to it that draws the listener in. They take general principles of pop music, repetition and hooks, and put a minimalist spin on them.
The group will release Actions on April 28, which will serve as the follow-up to last year’s, Can’t Love. Have a listen to the track above, and keep your eyes and ears out for more from Turn To Crime in the near future… perhaps Turn To Crime have flown under the radar for too long.
